Silk tofu- take two

So my first trial with silk tofu was so-so (i tried the chocolate mousse, which was really more like a custard!)

I do love tofu and couldn’t resist picking up another package of ‘Tofu Soyeux’ during my last trip to the organic store (these babies are not yet to be found in regular grocery stores), so i found a chocolate cake recipe, which replaces butter with tofu (butter fanatics please don’t hate me!).

Here is the recipe in French, slightly altered to taste and convenience

Les ingrédients :

  • 3 œufs
  • 25 g de poudre de cacao
  • 250 g de tofu soyeux
  • 150g chocolat noir 70%
  • 50 g d’amandes en poudre
  • 60 g de sucre blond
  • 60 g de farine
  • 1/2 sachet de levure
  • 1 sachet de sucre vanillé
  • 1 pincée de sel

Instructions :

  1. Préchauffer le four à 180°.
  2. Dans un bol, battre les œufs.
  3. Ajouter le sucre, la farine, le cacao, le tofu, la vanille, une pincée de sel, la poudre d’amandes et la levure.
  4. Fondre le chocolat et l’ajouter à la préparation. Bien mélanger.
  5. Huiler un moule (à cake, ou autre) et verser délicatement la pâte. Cuire pendant 35 minutes environ.
